When I think of Urban Fantasy I think of escapism. Not the whole - bury ones head in the sand and ignore the troubles of the world – escapism, but the feeling of being completely immersed by something that is broader than our world. Magic, if you will. That is the world I want to live in. I get to when I put my fingers to the keyboard for a little while. Of course I also get to when I read, which as an aspiring author it would be safe to assume that I do so voraciously.
When I’m not in La La Land, I am a bar wench at a local sports bar and an English student at ASU. I am from Mesa. I grew up here in the suburbs with my siblings where we built forts amongst our twenty seven citrus trees and claimed climbing trees as either the “boys” or the “girls.” Of course, by my teen years, the boys held the majority of the trees, as they often commenced hostile takeovers by urinating on said trees. As an adult, I find men still like to pee on things, though it is often metaphorically, unless you’re camping, then all bets are off.
I live in Mesa with an adorable kitten named Rasputin whom I lovingly refer to as my “crazy cat lady starter kit.” Crazy was inevitable as I am a middle child, and I am choosing to express it through cat ownership, oh and being a writer of course.
